However, the outcome of the abortion referendum earlier this year, and the same-sex marriage referendum before that, the deserted churches, and even the low attendance in Phoenix Park when the pope had his official visit two weeks ago, paint a much more accurate picture of how Catholic a country we really are, i.e. not very.
