The theory that religion is a force for peace, often heard among the religious right and its allies today, does not fit the facts of history.

It is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence.

As long as there are those who are willing to shed blood and take innocent life in the name of religion, the name of God, the world will never know a true and lasting peace.

I think religions are like monarchies. There might be a good king here and there but the system is problematic. Too easy to exploit.

If you pray for rain long enough, it eventually does fall. If you pray for floodwaters to abate, they eventually do. The same happens in the absence of prayers.

Christians often threaten atheists with eternal torture. But if we say that they’re delusional, they will tell us that we’re being rude.

There is no reason to follow Bronze Age ideology in the 21st Century.

I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It’s not enough to say that I don’t believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing; I am offended by some of the things said in the bible and the quran, and I refute them.

If you want to assert a truth, first make sure it’s not just an opinion that you desperately want to be true.

To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.
