This is Pakistani activist Gulalai Ismail, whose group called Aware Girls promotes women’s rights and peace.

Gulalai and Aware Girls have faced a campaign of defamation accusing Gulalai of “blasphemy” and the organization of undertaking “immoral” activities. Her organisation has been subject to much government interference and attempts to shut it down.

Urging people to think critically and respect human rights should not lead to a fine or jail time. Blasphemy is a victimless crime.

Gulalai Ismail will be speaking at a public meeting to promote the removal of blasphemy from Ireland’s laws. This will take place in Buswell’s Hotel, Dublin on the 13th October at 3 pm
